It’s a new Allison Davis sketch!!! I was so excited when Allison asked me if I wanted to participate in Sketch Week on her blog. I’ve missed Sketch Support so much and couldn’t wait to get started making a layout based on this sketch.
We took a trip to Griffith Park Observatory during Spring Break and Mason loved it! I enjoyed just watching him explore the exhibits and soak up all the information. For the layout, I used five different constellation patterned papers (American Crafts, WRMK, Echo Park, Studio Calico, Pebbles) and one piece of constellation vellum (Studio Calico).
I added lots of star accents and some other theme embellishments I found in my stash. I used outside photos and light colored papers on the left side and transitioned to inside photos and darker papers on the right side. I wanted to imply the earth turning and causing the day to change from light to dark. Too abstract? I agree! That’s way too much thought put into a scrapbook page!! I kept the background cardstock the same light blue color on both sides and used a strip of vellum as a border across the bottom for continuity.
Two reasons this sketch is awesome:
1–It’s versatile. You may have noticed that I did not follow the sketch exactly. I changed the photo sizes, the location of the embellishments, and omitted the stitching. You can tell that I used the sketch, but I also made it work for me.
2–It’s free. FREE!! You can download it here.
